Hello
I am looking to start a project and need budding sport journalists to help me!!
I want to give a platform to up and coming sport writers ( including myself) to potentially start a sport publication.
Get into contact with me if you have any ideas how I can make this a reality!

Why Brits love going to the Football
Why Brits love going to
the Football
Going to the
Football on a Saturday afternoon has continued to be one of the biggest past
times in Britain for many years. From the smell of stale beer, under cooked
burgers and at times hapless lumping off the ball up the pitch, us Brits just
can’t seem to get enough.
Last season
14 million people attended Premier League games alone. So what is it about
Football that convinces this many people to trade in their normal Saturday
afternoons of walking around generic shopping centres looking to blow their
hard earnt wages on the silly latest trends, or mowing the lawn over and over
again in their 6 x 6 gardens.
Uncertainty of outcome
You go to
the cinema and time and time again you have already predicted the films ending
before you have polished off your £6 tub of popcorn. Football gives us
something different, that level of excitement which you used to get as a kid at
Christmas. Who would have predicted that we would have scored a last minute
winner against the league leaders? Or the player that rarely gets booked two
foots an opposition player and gets sent off?
Nothing
beats experiencing Football in the flesh and knowing anything can happen at any
point. Zidane deciding his sister’s honour was bigger than winning the World
cup and David Beckham picking out the top corner from a free kick to put
England through.
Being part of the
Football family
“You can
watch what you like on tele, but nothing gives you the same feeling of being at
the game, the journey and the company you have with you” are the views of Arsenal
supporter’s club member Mark Mills. Now all families may be ‘alright’ but let’s
face it trying to talk to your Nan about the injustice of a dodgy penalty call
away at Bury is a waste of time. Hunter S Thompson claims that “Football is the
universal language”. He also claims “A serious Football fan is never alone. We
are legion, and Football is often the only thing we have in common”
One Coventry
fan claimed to me; “if we just travelled away from home and won, it doesn’t matter
if I catch my wife in bed with another man. Nothing is removing this smile”.
The arm chair fan
We all know
that fan that lives in Exeter but supports Manchester United. Now the claim “my
granddad used to support them” is not a valid excuse. If anything it just shows
your granddad was as much as a glory hunter as you are. With Sky Sports and BT
sports battling it out by airing 4 million games a week, being an armchair fan
is easier than ever. “Why go to a game when you can watch it in your living
room” is a popular cry from an armchair fan. This may be true however seeing
So I urge
all of you reading this. Get yourself off that sofa and get down your local
club and experience live Football. You never know what will happen.
